Hey knowers: what, if any, down side is there to getting a new Covid vaccine within a few weeks of having tested positive?

There seems to be an insistence from the CDC and industry that ones “immunity” will last longer if you wait 3-6 months after a positive test to get vaxxed. This seems iffy from a public health perspective but I don’t exactly know the details at play here. Can anyone help? 🙏

@wwc she came up on the final corner but it went straight to the Spanish goalkeeper, which was sort of the story of the match for England - not good enough possession in the final third, or anywhere really

@FlyingSquirrel @yamainu @wwc intent very much matters under the law of the game, altho that has been muddied by the whole “making the body unnaturally bigger” directives. What’s more is that I don’t think it actually affected the play, the trajectory of the ball was altered so inconsequentially. But with her hand out to the side as it was, by the letter of the law these days it’s a handball, even if very few neutral players would ever agree it should be called that way

Lil news search shows the protester interruption in the first half was a person wearing a shirt that said “Stop Putler” with a Putin/Hitler mashup illustration - and he was, in fact, tackled.

Disrupting as it may be for the players, I don’t supporting addressing pitch invaders with violence (unless they are fascists). Instead they should be forced to defend a penalty or perhaps a butts-up shot from the best striker on the field 😂

NEW ILLUSTRATION

"Call Jane"

This work is an homage to the Jane Collective, which was started by a Jewish woman and whose main participants were almost entirely of Jewish women. The "Janes" provided safe, discreet abortion access to low income women in the early 1970s Chicago when abortion was mostly illegal in the USA.

The sign on the phone booth is one of the ads they placed in a paper. The background contains Jewish texts addressing social justice, resistance, abortion, and medicine. Photos from the days of the collective are also there.

The AT&T logo on the payphone is stylized to be a hamsa, with RM"K (my Hebrew name initials).

Don’t kill the messenger. This is polarizing. Politics, causes, stances, & behavior have made this team unlikeable to a portion of America. This team has built its brand and has derived its power from being the best/winning. If that goes away they risk becoming irrelevant.

@muppeth Yeah, so I’m a trans chick and, funny you mention it, an anarchist; hatemongers don’t need to know who I am or live on the same continent (or be immediately able to see your or my instance) to want to harass or unalive me. And I’m considerably more secure than many, especially bc of my whiteness.

Furthermore, I am a user and I am organizing and defending myself and my communities, and one way I am doing that is by urging you, a person with more social power and tools in this space, to use the incredibly simple tools at your disposal to block known Nazi, CSAM, and other terrible instances. I, and other people (users) can also do such self organizing by other methods, for example encouraging folks to disroot.org, if you continue to refuse to do your simple part to keep hate out before it gets a foothold in your space.

Well this was a new experience tonite in . I'm not much of a sign-carrier at protests, but I would've guessed that the first time I'd have my signs ripped up at one, it'd be by cops or piss boys.... not boomer supporters of Medea Benjamin and the elder pacifists from Women Against Military Madness (WAMM).

WAMM and the local Veterans for Peace invited Medea Benjamin to town to speak on her new book, in which she blames the Ukranian people for Putin's war and encourages capitulation. A small group of antifascists showed up to protest, sing, and hand out flyers calling out Benjamin's well-documented collaboration with fascists, and cheering for victory for the Ukranian (and Russian) working class.

The WAMM/VFP crew took exception to this, to the point of throwing punches, and declaring the "public event" off-limits to antifascists. One antifascist decided to stand in the entryway, at which point WAMM, VFP and the owner of the leftist community center called police... leading to the photos you see here. Nobody was arrested.

Benjamin's talk seemed poorly attended, with nobody of less than senior citizen age coming in through the entrance where the protest was held.

Three police officers stand in front of entrances to a building with a blue abstract mural on brick, and two entryways. In between the cops, is a woman wearing a tie dye shirt with the letters "WAMM" (standing for Women Against Military Madness) inside a peace symbol. One of the cops appears to be writing down on a notepad something she is saying.
